THREADS FOR FINEST SEWERS AND DESIGNERS.

Gütermann Fusible Thread is perfect for fuse basting, quilt bindings, appliques, zippers and more. Sew the thread into fabric like a regular sewing thread and then iron it and it sets your project in place. It can be used in a bobbin or on the top thread of your sewing machine. It can also be used in the lower looper of your serger. 164 yards per spool. Available in clear only. Please note: actual color may vary from picture due to computer monitor variances.

Features

  • For basting, bindings, appliqué and zippers
  • Iron in place to fuse project temporarily
  • Can be used in bobbin or on top
  • Temporary bond that holds items in place before final stitching
Could you provide an example of when the use of fusible thread would be preferable over stitch witchery? I understand it can be used for basting, etc., but so can stitch witchery.

A:
This would be an alternative to Stitch Witchery. It allows you to sew the stitch and then when you iron the project, it will fuse. It's still considered a temporary bond, so you would still have to do your final stitching afterward.
