Additional Information:
Pant/Dress vs. Purse? Take #3 nylon coil, for example: Pant/Dress 7” is 24¢ Purse 7” is $1.35 I see that the purse zipper has a different pull and the tape is 3/8” wider in all. The difference in price is quite significant. Are the any other differences, in functionality or otherwise?

They function the same, the difference is slider and the tape only,

A coat that has a separating zipper, separates, while zipped? Does it need to be replaced or are there any tricks that my save this zipper? I thought about spraying with silicone spray...wondering if this would help? Thanks in advance.

A:
It sounds as if the teeth on the zipper are not locking like they should. The zipper will need to be replaced.

A:
Replacing the slider usually fixes this issue.

A:
Usually this happens when the zipper pull is sprung, or open more than it should be. You may be able to fix the zipper with a new pull. First determine the style and size of your zipper and order the corresponding pull. Slide the old pull off and the new pull on from the top. Finish it off with a zipper stop at the top.

If the bottom ends of the zipper are not excessively worn or raveled, you can usually replace the slider. Be sure to use the correct style and size.

I’ve been getting a lot of complaints about the #5 sliders not fitting into zippers. Do you know what’s happening? Are the sliders defective?

A:
There may be some confusion about what slider to use for the zipper in question. The #5 new style plastic (ZS5N*) and the #5 old style plastic (ZS5V*) are not compatible and of course, the #5 Nylon Coil sliders (ZS5C) won’t work on a #5 Molded Plastic Zipper (old or new). Metal sliders also will not work with plastic and vice versa.

How do I make a zipper shorter?

A:
First you must determine whether you are shortening a separating or a non-separating zipper. To shorten a separating zipper, work the slider to the bottom of the zipper. Using needle nose pliers, remove the 2 top stops. Using end nippers, shorten the zipper to the desired size by making a small cut between the teeth or across the coils on both sides of the zipper. Remove the excess zipper tape with scissors. Apply two new top stops and sew zipper into the article of clothing. To shorten a non-separating zipper, work the slider to the top of the zipper. Using needle nose pliers, remove the 1 bottom stop. Using end nippers, shorten the zipper to the desired size by making a small cut between the teeth or across the coils on both sides of the zipper. Best Zippers, even Better Price, ultra fast delivery

I ordered 9" assorted colors and also many of the fashion colors. Upon seeing that if I ordered 2 of a color I got 1 free, I took advantage and ordered 2 assorted packs, ending up with enough to sew up a storm! The quality of YKK zippers is well known and these are perfect. I ordered on Wed. and they arrived on Thurs with just standard shipping which is one price no matter how much you order. What's not to love? Also I did some research and these zippers are cheaper and less work than buying zipper rolls and adding a pull. I am a very satisfied customer.
