Gutermann natural all-purpose cotton thread is made from 100% mercerized cotton thread that is strong with a silky finish. It is suitable for hand or machine sewing. Hello, and thanks for your question. Polyester tends to last a bit longer than cotton thread, due to cotton thread's natural properties. This thread is mercerized though, and is tear and abrasion resistant.

Yes, you should be able to dye any mercerized cotton thread. Just keep in mind that it may take the dye differently than other types of 100% cotton thread.
